Families from across Darlington attended the meeting this week to discuss how they have been supported by the charity but also brought the lack of support groups available to families caring for children with autism locally to Peter’s attention.
Peter Gibson, Member of Parliament for Darlington, said: “Over the last year I have engaged with many families who have children with Autism. I know from these conversations that many families feel alone, and don’t know the full range of support that is available to them.
“In order to tackle this problem I plan on sharing any information my office receives via the forum in order to ensure we can get the relevant information and support to the people that need it.
“I am a member of All Party Parliamentary Group for Autism in Westminster so any information I learn from the group will be passed on to the residents of Darlington.”
